Ski Price Index 22-23, the most loved ski resorts by Italians

The Holidu Ski Price Index 2022-2023 examined the prices of the most popular ski lifts and resorts by Italians

Holidu – a house and apartment booking portal – after creating the Generational Travel Index, a travel index based on the generation to which you belong, this year created the Ski Price Index focused on mountain resorts.

To determine this, it selected the 40 most sought-after ski destinations on its website, for stays between 1 December 2022 and 30 April 2023. The result brings out, as the most sought-after destination, the Lombard Livigno, followed by the Abruzzo Roccaraso- Rivisondoli and the thirty Madonna di Campiglio.

In fourth position Bormio, also in Lombardy and the South Tyrolean/Venetian Tre Cime Dolomiti. The Valle d’Aosta town of Courmayeur places itself in sixth position ahead of the Trentino Canazei-Belvedere and the Venetian Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Tyrolean Stubai Glacier and the Aosta Valley Breuil-Cervinia close the top 10.

Of the most sought-after ski destinations, 31 out of 40 are Italian and the 8 foreign ones are from the four countries with which Italy shares its northern border: two in Austria (Stubai Glacier and Kitzbühel), 2 in Slovenia (Vogel Ski Resort in the Tricorn National Park and Kranjska Gora), two in France (Charmonix-Mont-Blanc and Les 3 Vallées) and two in Switzerland (Zermatt and St. Moritz).

The most represented Italian region is Trentino-Alto Adige with 9 localities plus 3 more on the border with other regions. Among them, 3 are in the top 10: Madonna di Campiglio, Tre Cime Dolomiti and Canazei-Belvedere.

Less obvious is the strong presence of Abruzzo with 5 places in the ranking: Roccaraso-Rivisondoli, Pescasseroli, Ovindoli Monte Magnola, Campo Felice-Rocca di Cambio and Gran Sasso-Campo Imperatore.

There are three places in the Aosta Valley in the ranking: Courmayeur-Mont-Blanc, Breuil-Cervinia and Pila.

Another 9 regions are represented with one or two localities each.

The price of ski destinations

Holidu, after selecting the 40 most sought-after ski destinations, indicated the price of accommodation and ski passes for each one, in high and low season, as well as the final price given by the sum of the two. The result was a ranking of locations ranging from an average of €37 per day in Viggiano Montagna Grande in Basilicata to €248 in Zermatt in Switzerland. A wide range, therefore.

In the ranking of the most expensive places, after Zermatt, comes Cortina with its average €234 and Corvara in Alta Badia with €210.

Cortina d'Ampezzo

However, the choice of destinations with an average price of less than €100 is quite wide. There are 12 in the Holidu ranking, among which Folgarida-Marileva in Trentino and La Thuile in Valle d’Aosta stand out.

Looking at the ranking, the destinations with the lowest average price, in addition to Viggiano Montagna Grande, are Gran Sasso-Campo Imperatore in Abruzzo with €45 and Etna Nord / Piano Provenzana-Linguaglossa in Sicily with €71.
