Faern – Swiss Alps

Opening: January 2023

Two new resorts are coming to the Swiss Alps early in the new year: Faern Arosa Altein and Faern Crans-Montana Valaisia. Approaching the destination with a fresh take – inspired by scenic sites and togetherness – Faern (a combination of the German ‘feiern’, to celebrate, and the English ‘fern’, the icon of mountain flora) will showcase the best of altitude living. Set to become the latest ski and snowboarding hotspot, Faern will stay open for the summer season, offering wellness activities, hiking and biking routes.

Casa Baglioni – Milan, Italy

Opening: January 2023

Known for its fine hotels in Italy’s art cities, Baglioni Hotels & Resorts is opening Casa Baglioni early in the new year, with an intimate 30 suites and bedrooms, a living area, an impressive wine cellar, and a restaurant from famed chef Claudio Sadler. Drawing inspiration from 1960s Milan, the spaces are designed by Italian architects Spagnulo & Partners, blending well with the surroundings of luxury boutiques, art galleries, antique markets and chic cocktail bars.

Hôtel Dame des Arts – Paris, France

Opening: February 2023

Situated on the bustling Left Bank – in the beating artistic heart of the legendary St-Germain-des-Prés – Hôtel Dame des Arts is set to be a game-changing opening in Paris. Embracing its culturally rich neighbourhood (once home to Picasso, Hemingway, Coco Chanel and the Fitzgeralds), Studio Saint Lazare is behind the branding, following its successful branding of the Nomad Hotels. There will be Nouvelle Vague movie set interiors – designed by internationally renowned designer Raphael Navot – making for unique spaces and intricate colours and textures across 109 bedrooms, as well as a Rooftop Bar with 360-degree views of Paris.

The Peninsula Istanbul – Turkey

Opening: February 2023

Set along the banks of the scenic Bosphorus in Istanbul’s historic Karaköy district, The Peninsula’s latest opening will be set across four buildings, three of which are careful renovations of historical landmarks dating back to the early 1900s. It’s part of Galataport, a new waterfront revitalisation project that will see a promenade, museums and art galleries, restaurants, boutiques, and a cruise ship port join the hotel in due course.

Cap Karoso – Sumba Island, Indonesia

Opening: Early 2023

This 47-room, 20-villa eco-conscious haven – with organic farm to boot – is the product of the two young, ethically minded French adventurers, Fabrice and Evguenia Ivara, who first visited Sumba in 2017 and were captivated by its charm. Guests can expect eco-friendly architecture by Gary Fell’s GFAB practice, calming interiors by Jakarta-based Bitte Studio, artist ateliers, a creative kids programme, a beach club, a chef’s table restaurant, and an open-air cinema.

The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne – Australia

Opening: Early 2023

With an express elevator that whisks guests up to the top floor, The Ritz-Carlton is set to be Australia’s tallest hotel when it opens in the new year. Celebrating Australian culture, there will be holistic wellness facilities – like a peaceful yoga space, vitality pools and rejuvenating treatments that harness locally sourced botanicals – as well as a heated infinity pool with floor-to-ceiling views of the city from Level 64.

Ngorongoro Lodge, a Meliá Collection Hotel – Tanzania

Opening: Early 2023

Set in a rare conservation area, Meliá’s fourth Tanzanian property has the natural environment and local culture at its heart. Ngorongoro Lodge has been a feature of the nature reserve for some time, but Meliá’s major renovation will adapt the lodge to the needs of discerning, eco-conscious travellers, without damaging its authenticity and integration with its surrounding environment. With 28 rooms and 24 spacious suites with views of the crater, two restaurants, a barbecue area, a pool and a spa, it’s one to keep your eye on for your next safari adventure.

Le Grand Mazarin – Paris, France

Opening: Early 2023

At the corner of rue des Archives and rue de la Verrerie, near the Hôtel de Ville, Maisons Pariente’s next hotel (and their first urban hotel) is set to open in early 2023, embodying the cosmopolitan eclecticism of the Marais across 61 unique rooms and suites, along with a swimming pool, restaurant and bar.

Paragraph Freedom Square – Tbilisi, Georgia

Opening: Early 2023

The Luxury Collection’s first outpost in Georgia, Paragraph Freedom Square will be in the most iconic postcode in Tbilisi, an iconic destination and authentic gateway to the city. Two hundred and twenty guestrooms have been designed with traditional Georgian touches mixed with modern luxury finishes. The same is true in the hotel’s specialty restaurant, from furnishings to food. For spectacular views, the Skybar provides the perfect evening escape. There’s also a luxurious spa, indoor pool, gym, and rooftop cable car to the neighbouring golf course.

Ikos Resorts – Corfu

Opening: May 2023

Ikos Resorts in Corfu, Greece will be opening its sixth property in spring next year, adding to its portfolio of award-winning luxury all-inclusive resorts. Across the bay from Ikos Dassia, Ikos Odisia offers dramatic views and landscaped vistas across the Ionian Sea. Combining relaxed beach life with luxury 395 sumptuous rooms, suites, bungalows, and villas have each been thoughtfully designed for couples and families of all sizes.

Hotel La Palma (New Hotels 2022)

Hotel La Palma – Capri, Italy

Opening: Spring 2023

The Oetker Collection will add Hotel La Palma, Capri to the group’s portfolio of Masterpiece Hotels, bringing to life the island’s iconic dolce vita lifestyle as a reimagined incarnation of the original Hotel La Palma – the first and oldest hotel on the island. Located steps from the famous Piazzetta, the 50-room Hotel La Palma will comprise a rooftop restaurant and bar, a stunning pool deck, a spa and high-fashion boutiques. The La Palma Beach Club in the Marina Piccola will aspire to be the day-into-night, buzzing epicentre of the social scene on the island, with food by celebrated Chef, Gennaro Esposito.

The Homestead – Nambiti Private Game Reserve, South Africa

Opening: Spring 2023

This 12-suite, eco-conscious, ultra-luxury lodge is set to open in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve – two and a half hours from Durban, four hours from Johannesburg – in Q2 2023, opening up one of South Africa’s most ambitious conservation projects to guests with tailored game drives, cooking classes, community elders visits, birding adventures. Here, the Big 5, along with over 50 species of wildlife, can be experienced without the threat of malaria. Hoping to redefine the eco-luxury lodge, innovative architecture – which combines new structures with original, 19th century buildings – will blend seamlessly with the surroundings.

Ikos Porto Petro – Mallorca, Spain 

Opening: Summer 2023

Bringing the five-star luxury it is known for to the Balearics, Ikos Porto Petro will be Ikos Resorts’ seventh property, with 319 elegant rooms and suites with terraces, private pools and Mediterranean views. There will be five indoor and outdoor heated pools across the resort, along with pristine secluded coves and the natural beauty of the beach.

The Pavilions Anambas – Indonesia

Opening: Late 2023

New from boutique luxury hotel brand, The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts: a twin-island private hideaway off the northwest coast of Indonesia, close to Singapore and sheltered by coral reefs, surrounded by turquoise waters, and home to eight pristine beaches. Part of Indonesia’s Kepulauan Riau (Riau Archipelago, a chain of over 1,796 islands) and accessible only by private boat or floatplane, there will be an intimate 10 luxury Residences available for purchase alongside 12 guest villas alongside a clubhouse, restaurant, beach bar and state-of-the-art spa.

W Sydney – Australia

Opening: Late 2023

Arriving in Darling Harbour at the end of the year, W Sydney hopes to embody the creativity and eclectic nature of Australia’s oldest city. Occupying part of the new ‘The Ribbon’ building – named for its undulating form – the hotel will feature an ultra-luxe ‘Extreme Wow Suite’ on Level 27, a rooftop bar, a heated indoor swimming pool on Level 22, a luxury spa, and an outdoor rooftop WET® Deck with a heated 30-metre infinity pool offering panoramic views of Darling Harbour.

Nobu Hotel and Restaurant Marrakech

Nobu Hotel Marrakech – Morocco

Opening: 2023

Nobu’s first venture into Africa, the design-led Nobu Hotel Marrakech will be located in the Hivernage district, steps from the city’s souks and vibrant Djemaa el-Fna. With 71 spacious guest rooms and suites, a selection of dining venues and rooftop spaces, and a spacious spa and fitness centre with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, it’s set to be an exciting cultural hub.


Svart Hotel – Norway

Opening: 2023

When it opens in 2023, Svart will be the world’s first energy-positive hotel – a destination that not only offers travellers all the usual tenets of high-end hospitality, but also hopes to inspire its guests to learn more about conservation, sustainability, climate change and preserving the surrounding polar region. Designed by architects Snøhett, Svart is its flagship project: a glass-fronted, doughnut-shaped building that will be built from prefabricated capsules in Holandsfjorden fjord, balanced on stilts. Within five years, Svart aims to be zero waste and energy positive.

Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena – Colombia

Opening: 2023

Located on the doorstep of Cartagena’s historic walled city – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which can be viewed from the rooftop pool – Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena will open in 2023, complete with 131 guest rooms and suites, and a total of six restaurants and bars. Several culturally significant buildings, dating as far back as the 16th Century, are being restored as a result, including the Cloister of Saint Francis, the Club Cartagena (a 1920s Beaux Arts masterpiece) and four theatres.

One&Only Aesthesis – Glyfada, Greece

Opening: 2023

Following the recent opening of One&Only Portonovi in Montenegro, a new One&Only outpost is coming to Greece’s Athenian riviera in 2023: One&Only Aesthesis. Embodying the glamour of 60s and 70s Greece, the chic resort will be 30 minutes from the centre of Athens, balancing city life and history with the relaxing surroundings of the Aegean sea and natural thermal springs of Lake Vouliagmeni. There will also be a Chenot Spa, home to pioneering, scientifically-rooted treatments for optimum health and vitality.

Bulgari Hotel Tokyo – Japan

Opening: 2023

Occupying the top seven floors of an ultra-skyscraper in Tokyo’s Yaesu 2-Chome North District, Bulgari Hotel Tokyo is one of two new Bulgari openings in 2023. Situated withing walking distance of some of the city’s best attractions, the hotel will house 98 guest rooms, including multiple luxury suites and an extravagant Bvlgari Suite.

Bulgari Hotel Rome – Italy

Opening: 2023

Joining the new Tokyo outpost, Bulgari Hotel’s new Rome hotel is set to open in 2023, situated in the heart of the Campo Marzio neighbourhood, close to the central Piazza Augusto Imperatore. With both the architecture and interiors being led by Italian firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, the 100+ rooms promise a prestigious, well-appointed stay. There will also be ‘Il Ristorante’, curated by famed chef Niko Romito.
