miart, the exhibition organized by Fiera Milano and directed for the third year by Nicola Ricciardi, is back with an international edition.
In fact, almost 40% of the exhibitors have an office abroad, 27 countries of the world will be represented, four continents and very distant cities, such as, for example, Sao Paulo for HOA Galeria and Shanghai for Capsule Shanghai, Seoul for Foundry Seoul and Accra (Ghana) for Gallery 1957.
There will be 169 galleries that will exhibit between important returns and several new entries, including established and emerging artists with works that span the twentieth century but also contemporary works.
Three sections of the exhibition. Emergent, curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini, is dedicated to 26 young galleries; Established, the main section, hosts 133 galleries exhibiting works of the strictest contemporary age together with those dedicated to 20th century art, not forgetting those active in the collectible and authorial design sector.
The path is completed by Decades, a section curated by Alberto Salvadori, which explores the history of the last century through 10 monographic projects from the 10s of the twentieth century to the 10s of the 2000s. After the ‘dismantling of silence’ in 2021 and the ‘first movement’ of a new score the following year, in 2023 miart continues plowing through musical metaphors and building the imagery of the new edition around the word ‘Crescendo’.
The initiatives scattered throughout the city with Milan Art Week (11 – 16 April), the widespread event coordinated by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Milan with a dedicated program of exhibitions and activities, will advance the fair.
On the occasion of Milan Art Week, some exhibitions of the season open in important city venues, including Candice Lin | Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation Award to the Gam; Ann Veronica Janssens at Pirelli HangarBicocca; the How you dare exhibition project at the Fabbrica del Vapore; the Forum 900 project at the Museo del Novecento, which will see the gallery on the ground floor host works of contemporary art and transform itself into a place for discussion, debate and presentations.
Two exhibitions, dedicated to Danilo Sciorilli and Aldo Spoldi, will be visible at the Stelline Foundation; the exhibition on Dara Birnbaum at the Prada Foundation Observatory and the artist Nathalie Provosty at the Ica Foundation.
Guided tours, special projects and extraordinary openings in many exhibition spaces, from Pac to Castello Sforzesco, from Palazzo Reale to the Museum of Science and Technology up to Triennale Milano. Here, in particular, the sixth edition of the FOG Triennale Milano Performing Arts will be held, as well as a series of live initiatives where people can meet, dialogue and generate energy and reflections around a more extensive idea of art (miart Live at Triennale Milano).
