Desigual launches its first jewelry collection. The Spanish brand presented a series of 57 items plated in 18-karat gold or sterling silver, designed by Gala Meyer, daughter of the founder Thomas Meyer.
With this new line. The collection is on sale online at desigual.com and in four stores: the Desigual flagship stores in Madrid and Barcelona, the Barcelona airport store and the Passeig de Mare Nostrum store.
The articles, designed from an agender perspective, are aimed at people who want to demonstrate their uniqueness, both those who are already part of the Desigual community and those approaching the brand for the first time
explains a company note.
The collection includes rings, earrings, pendants, chokers and bracelets in which elements such as hearts that seem to melt, hand-modeled textures, abstract butterflies and messages in Spanish such as ‘amar hasta arder’ (to love until it burns) or ‘deshacerse amando’ predominate (discard by loving).
The words that define the collection
says Meyer
I am transformation, connection, love. The articles reflect the process of discovering yourself, seeing who you have become, and loving yourself more than ever. At the same time, they are an ode to the two poles – the cold, the heat; the light, the dark – which pulsate in love, which must always burn, just as lovelessness also burns
The creative, with a degree in Visual Arts from Bennington College in Vermont, began experimenting with jewelry during her motherhood and created her own brand, Zalio.
Thomas makes each mold by hand with wax, his fingerprints remain imprinted in the material and end up on the final piece. It is possible to decipher each movement up to the finished jewel.
This project has been an honor and has allowed me to realize the enormous influence that Desigual has had on me. The brand and I have grown together. His messages, his story, are ideas that I carry within me.
Thomas Meyer was instrumental in my growth and I fed on him and on his project. He has given me a lot
concludes the designer.
